词源

A play on two cents and its variants. From latinum, which was featured in many episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–1999) as a precious material used by Ferengi and others as a medium of exchange. Although a liquid in its natural state, it was enclosed for convenience in gold casings of standardized size, called slips.
