— Rather than characterize scientific progress in terms of increasing truthlikeness, the proposal is to start with the pragmatic view that inquiry involves the elimination error, then to use this understanding of inquiry to characterize a local notion of approximate truth in terms of descriptive nesting relations between our current best physical theories and subsequent theories.
