— For the sake of this NG [newsgroup] I assume that "boy" is referring to young males from about 16 on down to 8 or 9 or so and that anything younger is "infants", "babies" and the like. Any over 16 or thereabouts are young men. But for the general public and all the "pedophile-phobes" that are so much in evidence nowadays, the "boy" in boy-lover refers to the entire male agegroup from birth to the federal age of consent cutoff point of eighteen years of age.
