Borrowed from Latin chorāgus, from Doric Greek χορᾱγός (khorāgós), from χορός (khorós, “chorus”) + -ᾱγός (-āgós, Doric form of -ηγός (-ēgós, “-leader”)), literally “chorus-leader”. Compare Attic Greek χορηγός (khorēgós).
