    — One way to check if current documentation practices are effectively preserving knowledge is to ask whether your key employees could pass the "bus test." In other words, if your star scientist, chief engineer, or policy analyst was hit by a bus on the way to work tomorrow would their documentation practices put the organization at risk or greatly degrade capabilities.
