  1. A dense structure, with no microtubules, located in the center or close to the nucleus of a cell, and from which radiate axopodia.
    — Centroaxoplastids have an axoplast at the centre of the cell, in a membrane-enclosed cavity within the nucleus, and radiating bundles of microtubules in a pin-wheel array (Fig. 6.13j), which is an extension of the cryptoaxoplastid pattern.
