Mandalgovi

— Dundgov can’t always promise you an epic dust storm like that one, although we did run into another — a simpler all-day blow — at its eastern end returning on the main road. In a remote desert plain northwest of the pleasant-looking aimag centre of Mandalgovi is Baga Gazriyn Chuluu, a lovely rock-strewn range full of canyons, caves, a couple of old monasteries and a solitary lake.
