  1. A village at the head of Loch Inver (a short sea loch) in western Sutherland, Highland council area, Scotland; also at the mouth of the River Inver (OS grid ref NC0922).
    — The side road to Baddidarach, on the other side of Lochinver, gives a striking view of the whitewashed village by the shore, a ridge rising behind it and, looming over everything, the sugar-loaf peak of Suilven in the heart of the deer forest beyond.
