— Located in Pingqiao District of Xinyang, Henan Province, Haotang Village was ordinary and underdeveloped. In recent decades, many villagers had gone out to make a living because farming in the village could bring them only meager income.[…]In 2009, Li Changping, director of the Institute of China New Rural Planning and Design, who had long been devoted to the three major issues of the countryside, namely, agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and Sun Jun, the advocator and organizer of Beijing Green Cross, began their sustainable development and construction experiment in Haotang Village.
