Fukou

— To Yenling We left Chengchow early one morning and driving south went through Weishih county, with its well-preserved pagoda standing over it, then on to Fukou, and finally to Yenling. Winter wheat was coming away well, and the highway had a good deal of transport operating on it. Between Fukou and Yenling the rubber-tyred handcarts that carry 500 or more kilos had sails attached so that the prevailing wind could help them.
