  1. A word or phrase (construction or idiom) typical of or influenced by a Cushitic language. countable
    — Similar phenomenon is found in Semitic languages of Ethiopia. In Gurage, we find the morpheme t(ä)- with the same distribution: with Imperfect it means “when” and with Perfect “if”. Example in Chaha: tisäβər “when he breaks” (Imperfect) and täsäpärä “if he breaks” (Perfect).³ This a^([sic]) Cushitism in Ethiopian Semitic.
  2. Cushitic character; Cushiticness. uncountable
