    — Hidden away in the Vale of Evesham lies the mellow village of Bretforton. Its documented history goes back more than 1,200 years to a Saxon deed of 714. The Saxons called it Brotfortun - the 'ford with planks' - possibly a reference to a footbridge alongside the ford.
