Uncertain. Probably from Nadaco (a tribe indigenous to Oklahoma), from Caddo Nadá-kuh (“place of bumblebees”). The prothetic A- is widely considered to be the result of a clerical error made when the post office of Anadarko, Oklahoma was established.
